What is a guided mountain bike ride?

It can be anything you want it to be; a big exploration ride showcasing some of the finer trails in mother natures playground, or a gentler day out highlighting some of the trails right on your doorstep. As your mountain bike guide it’s our job to plan the route so you can focus your mind on the task at hand.

Sitting back, peddling and enjoying the experience and awe inspiring scenery.

Whether you are new to mountain biking, or are an experienced rider looking for new trails away from your home, a guided ride is tailored personally for you or your group. With the information you provide about the type of riding you want, and like to do, we do the rest, leaving you confident in the knowledge that the chosen route is a perfect match to your needs, fitness and ability.

The goal is to always ensure that not only are all the guided rides safe, but they are injected with fun, energy, and provide a great experience that will leave you wanting more.

Some of our favourite places to ride and explore are in the wild and rugged countrysides of our very own National Parks. From the Peak District to the Lake District, through to Wales and the North Yorkshire Moors. These are the areas we know the best because we spend most of our riding time here searching out new trails, and routes to take you all on.

If you know where to go, the UK can provide you with some of the best locations for all forms of cycling, not just mountain biking, and if you don’t know where to go that’s where we can help.

How much does it cost?

Our prices vary depending on the size of the group. We can cater for up to 8 riders at a time, and all of our guided rides are suitable for any level of ability.

All of our guides are qualified British Cycling Mountain Bike Leaders, and Outdoor First Aiders. This ensures that we are able to keep you safe out on the trails so you can enjoy an awesome day in the saddle.

The prices indicated above are prices per group that would cover you for a full days guided ride. This would on average equate to 4-8 hours riding depending on the fitness and needs of the group or individual. The cost would be split between however many riders take part in your guided ride. More of a reason to ride with friends, sharing is caring.

What do I need?

Just bring yourself and what you should usually take on your mountain bike rides. As your guides we will be well equipped with tools to fix your bike, extra nutrition and water, first aid kits and lots of other things you probably wouldn’t be interested in. But you must ensure that you do bring certain items. These items include:

  • A mountain bike capable of handling sustained off-road riding

  • An undamaged, cycling specific helmet, no older than 5 years old

  • An inner tube that fits your own bike

  • A pump

  • Rucksack

  • A bike specific multi-tool

  • Gloves and eyewear (recommended but not essential)

  • Some gels for energy (recommended but not essential)

  • Your own lunch and snacks

  • Water

  • The most important of all; your best smile

Unless you ask us to arrange your lunch and snacks, we will assume that you will be bringing your own. You’ll also need to dress for the weather, or what the weather may look like it’s going to do on the day of your ride. If it’s looking like it may rain at some point a waterproof jacket is an essential bit of kit that you must carry.
